(Moscow) – Russia should move quickly to reform laws and practices that currently prevent the 13 million Russians with disabilities from enjoying equal rights, Human Rights Watch said today. President Dmitry Medvedev signed a federal law on May 3, 2012, formally ratifying the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD).
(August 24, 2011) – Children with disabilities in Nepal face diverse and imposing barriers to getting a basic education, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today. Schools are physically inaccessible, teachers are inadequately trained, and some children with disabilities are unjustly denied admission to neighborhood schools, Human Rights Watch found.

(New York) – Colombia is the 100th country to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a symbolic step towards achieving universal respect for the rights of more than 670 million people with disabilities worldwide, Human Rights Watch said today. Colombia ratified the treaty on May 10, 2011.
Since its adoption in November 2009, the Dublin Statement has been a catalyst for stake-holders to reflect on how the current treaty body system could be further enhanced. We welcome the Dublin Statement initiative and endorse many of the principles contained therein.
