Joint Civil Society Statement to the 17th Session of the Human Rights Council

Human Rights Watch and a coalition of 5 other civil society organizations made a statement today to the United Nations Human Rights Council on the conclusion of SRSG Prof. John Ruggie’s six-year mandate on business and human rights. The coalition noted that although the Council should acknowledge the progress achieved under SRSG Ruggie’s mandate, it also must recognize that much important work remains to be done to adequately protect individuals from abusive practices, hold those responsible for abuses to account and provide effective remedies to victims.
